THE FANTASTIC 90'S

Do you remember the “puffy jackets,” that P. Diddy wore? I was age 11 when the 90’s trends came roaring through and I remember them certainly well. “Puffy jackets” may have come back in style since the 1990’s, but I will not be wearing one. These jackets are so puffed out that you cannot get in the car without feeling that you set the air bag off. Have you ever dribbled your pop down your jacket because the puffs of the jacket are puffed out too far? Take it from me, I am not the most graceful type. It doesn’t take rocket science to figure out that the puffs of this jacket are way too big to be functional.

Now lets move on to the oversized pants that I have seen mostly guys wear. What were we thinking? I am not trying to be cynical here, but did we think it was attractive to not pull up our pants? We actually tried to put a belt, or chain wallet over the oversized monstrasities, but even the belts and chains rejected the pants because they still couldn’t hold them up. Wow! It amazes me the fashion cycles we go through, only to discover that the “horrid” trend is coming back around. Why didn’t we learn the first time? I don’t even want to move on to the next trend, but I have to go there.

The next trend is on the “designer athletic shoes.” Do you remember the Michael Jordan shoes with pumping action? Yikes! Did we really think we were going to fly through the air and make a slam dunk because of some pumping mechanism on the tongue of the shoe? I know that we all have some great imaginations, but come on! I’m not going to look down upon all the trends of the 90’s, just most of them, with all kidding aside, there were some trends that I liked.

The different colored-hair styles were cool and a great way to express yourself. I really liked the red hair dye, it seemed to be the color that stayed in your hair the longest where the other shades tended to fade rather quickly. Black wasn’t a bad color either. I didn’t like the colors green and blue. The green color just looked like snot and the blue turned a silvery shade that old people wore. The paler colors were the ones that looked bad, but it was the brighter colors that looked cool.

Hooded sweatshirts are always in style. A big comfortable sweatshirt never goes out of style. The soft fleece sweatshirts feel like a cozy blanket on your skin and that never gets old. Now I will touch on the henna tattoo’s. Henna tattoo’s were another artistic way to express yourself. The great thing about the henna tattoo is that it washed off, if say you broke up with your boyfriend or girlfriend and there name is tattooed on your face. It is just my opinion, but I am guessing your new beau for some reason will not be digging your tat. In conclusion I think you get my drift about 1990’s styles so that when they come back around again, you may think twice about your fashion choices. I just want you to think that maybe those baggy pants were not such a good idea, that maybe they really were not that attractive, that maybe you don’t want to get caught with your pants down again!
